BACKGROUND

After graduating from high school in Japan, I spent my twenties building a career in the accessory and fashion industry, working as an e-commerce administrator, product planner, and B2B sales representative.

After nearly 10 years of experience in the field, I launched my own online store "Jenipia" to build a brand featuring handcrafted products made by people with disabilities. My goal was to help improve wages and create more opportunities for social participation. After visiting several vocational support centers and interacting with both staff members and workers, one comment especially stayed with me: "It feels like a closed world." I managed and operated the store for two years.

After marrying a British man, I moved to the UK. There, I realized that there were few opportunities in the fashion industry in the area, which motivated me to start learning computer programming and pursue a career change.

While studying, I worked in a local restaurant to become more accustomed to working in an English-speaking environment. I later get a position as a trainee web developer at a company providing web-based services, and then worked in the e-commerce department of a company that designs and sells diorama products worldwide. I lived in the UK for three years and moved back to Japan with my family in 2022.

After giving birth in Japan, I transitioned to working as a full-time freelancer.

Whilest continuing to study Web Accessibility, I have been providing services to multiple companies, including:

  • Website and landing page production
  • International sales and business meetings
  • Workflow and operational efficiency improvements
  • English–Japanese translation services
